Eve stood at her mother’s grave while the rain turned into a strong shower. Everything was dark. Eve kept staring at the tombstone, like she was trying to find something new, something that would help her solve the enigma. But the sign remained the same:

        “To Jessica
        Beloved wife and mother.
The gods did not want us to be together...
            1963-1998»

She took out a small medallion from her pocket and looked at it for a moment. The rain was falling upon the medallion. Her father went away when her mother died and he detached himself from the world and from Eve. He spent all his time on his farm in France and Eve had seen him only once a year since then.
On that day, though, a package from France had arrived. Her father had finally found the time to contact her and she was thrilled that he had remembered her. But as soon as she opened the package, she knew that there was something strange going on. The package contained a medallion. It was her father’s favorite medallion. It also contained a letter.
“How I miss you, my darling Eve. It has been so long since last I saw you. Perhaps it seems like only a month to you, but I have not seen you in many years. My end is here now, I see now that it is inevitable. All I wish is to see you once more before I sink down into forgetfulness. Take this medallion, it will help you. Always keep it close to your heart and let your heart guide you. I believe that you will find me. We are not that different, you and I. We are bounded by the same universe, by the same creation. Come to me, to our estate. I need you, my one and only.
                                                   Your father, Ian”

What to do and where to go? She wasn’t clear what kind of end had her father talked about. Was he planning on taking his own life? The only thing she was certain of, was that she had to go to France, find her father, and find out what’s going on.
